TULSA – FC Tulsa has signed their first goalkeeper, Joey Roggeveen, for the 2024 USL Championship season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.
“I am really excited to join the team! It has always been a big dream for me to make minutes and show my qualities in the United States. I can’t wait to meet the fans and step on the field in the stadium,” said Joey Roggeveen.
“I am excited to welcome a goalkeeper of Joey’s caliber to FC Tulsa. Bringing a goalkeeper with international experience and a background from one of the finest European academies shows his pedigree as a goalkeeper,” said goalkeeper coach Adam Lewis. “Joey is everything we identified in a top goalkeeper that will be a success here at FC Tulsa. He is an exceptional shot stopper with the ability with his feet along with a calming presence in goal to put us where we belong in the USL Championship.”
Roggeveen joins after playing most of his professional career in the second-division Keuken Kampion Divisie in the Netherlands. Roggeveen played multiple years with first-division Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar along with time at Ajax Amsterdam. Most recently, Roggeveen played on a short stint with FC Den Bosch.
During his youth career, he made one appearance with the Netherlands U15 National Team. Roggenveen was called to the Suriname National Team in 2023 and has one appearance with the team.
In his professional career across 57 appearances he has 25 clean sheets.
