Goodrum tied for the club record for most individual goals scored in a regular season in 2023.
TULSA – Phillip Goodrum returns to FC Tulsa for the 2024 USL Championship season.
The prolific goalscorer joined FC Tulsa through a blockbuster transfer with Memphis 901 FC on May 22, 2023. In his debut for FC Tulsa against Louisville City FC a few days later, Goodrum provided an immediate jolt to the team, showcasing his dynamism by scoring the match-winning goal in the 89th minute.
Following his debut, Goodrum earned a spot in the USL Championship Week 12 Team of the Week.
“I couldn’t be happier to return to FC Tulsa for 2024.” Goodrum said, “Ever since I first arrived at the club, it has felt like home. I can’t wait to get started with the guys this year.”
In the 2023 season, Goodrum quickly made an impact for FC Tulsa, notching 12 goals and providing 2 assists. Goodrum played 2,600 minutes in 29 starts across 30 games played.
Remarkably, his 12 goals for FC Tulsa during the 2023 USL Championship regular season campaign tied the club record for the most individual goals scored in a season. Goodrum’s stellar performances throughout the season garnered league-wide attention regularly, earning him multiple USL Player of the Week titles.
Goodrum initially signed with Memphis ahead of the 2022 season and quickly established himself as one of the league’s premier attacking threats. The Charlotte native impressed with 21 goals and 6 assists through the 2022 regular season, finishing as the USL Championship’s Golden Boot runner-up after averaging a goal every 121 minutes.
Goodrum’s contributions extended into the playoffs in 2022, where he added another goal and assist to his season total.
After breaking Memphis 901 FC’s all-time scoring record, his stellar performance earned Goodrum a place in the 2022 All-League First Team, bookending a sensational season.
Returning to 901 FC in 2023, Goodrum appeared eight times for the club before being acquired by FC Tulsa.
Goodrum was initially drafted by Atlanta United with the 75th overall selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft and signed with the club’s USL Championship affiliate, Atlanta United 2.
The forward appeared in all 16 matches for Atlanta United 2 in 2020, starting 14 of those contests and notching two goals and four assists. The following season, Goodrum appeared 17 times for Atlanta with four goals and two assists.
In college, Goodrum played at UNC Wilmington where compiled 32 goals and 15 assists over his four-year career, spanning 76 matches, all of which he started. He received First-Team All-CAA honors three times, becoming just the second player in program history to do so. In addition, Goodrum led the Seahawks to NCAA Tournament appearances in both 2017 and 2018 and to a regular season conference championship his senior year in 2019.
