Ruxi will continue to make his mark for FC Tulsa as he returns for 2024
TULSA – Valls, Spain native Roger Bonet, known as Ruxi, returns to FC Tulsa for the 2024 USL season.
“I’m excited to be back. I’m sure we are going to learn from last season’s mistakes. The club and the team is growing and I expect a lot for next season,” Ruxi said, “I want to help the team to play attractive and brave soccer. That’s our identity. I will give my best for the club and continue progressing for our fans who were always supporting us.”
Signed by FC Tulsa ahead of the 2023 USL Championship Season, Ruxi spent two consecutive seasons in top-flight Finland.
In his inaugural season with FC Tulsa, Ruxi made 31 appearances with 29 starts. Over the course of the season, he accumulated over 2,550 minutes played for the club.
One of Ruxi’s standout attributes is his ability to dictate play from the back. Throughout the 2023 season, Ruxi made a remarkable 1,680 passes with a noteworthy 83.9 passing accuracy percentage.
Ruxi leads the team in interceptions with an impressive tally of 48. Ruxi won 31 tackles this season, which ranks him fourth on the team.
Ranking second on the team at 52 aerial duels won, his physical presence and ability to dominate in the air was on full display.
“We are excited to have Ruxi return and keep building off a strong season,” head coach Blair Gavin said, “His quality in build up and his defensive skills helped lay the groundwork to what we are building in Tulsa.”
In 2022, Ruxi signed with Inter Turku for the 202 campaign where the center-back had a career year. He scored three goals, a single-season career high, in 22 league appearances. He appeared 40 times in total and finished in the top three in minutes played among all Veikkausliiga competitors with 2,336.
In 2021, Ruxi joined AC Oulu where he made 30 appearances across all competitions and finished top-three in the league in minutes played with 2,340.
Ruxi’s first season playing in Finland was in 2020 as he signed with second-division FC KTP. In 28 appearances across all competition, Ruxi notched two goals and logged the first two assists of his professional career.
In that 2020 season, Ruxi also finished second in the league’s Defender of the Year voting.
In 2017-2018, Ruxi was loaned to Club Rápido de Bouzas for the remainder of the 2017-2018 season where he made 10 appearances in league play.
Ruxi kicked off his career with Gimnástic de Tarragona in 2016 before being loaned to UE Olot the same season. He would then return to Gimnástic for the 2017/2018 season.
