TULSA – FC Tulsa’s three-match homestand concludes on Friday night as the squad has the chance to tie the longest win streak in franchise history with a three-point victory over Rio Grande Valley FC Toros.
Over its last four wins, everything has been clicking for Tulsa. The offense has scored eight goals shared between Phillip Goodrum (4), Marcus Epps (3), and Moses Dyer (1), and the defense has conceded only four times during that stretch.
Its winning streak has skyrocketed FC Tulsa into 7th place in the Eastern Conference from 11th, earning 12 points in four matches compared to the 13 points it collected over the first 16 contests of the season. FC Tulsa now sits just five points out of a home playoff position and its playoff odds sit at 83.1% as of July 20, according to sportsclubstats.com.

Rio Grande Valley FC Toros pose an interesting, albeit formidable challenge to FC Tulsa’s hot streak. Despite entering Friday night’s match in 11th place in the West, RGV is riding a seven-match unbeaten streak of its own with results against three clubs currently occupying top-five Western Conference positions – Sacramento Republic FC, El Paso Locomotive FC, and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
Despite its recent run of form, it’s been tough sledding for RGV against FC Tulsa dating back to its inaugural 2016 USL Championship season. In 12 meetings, FC Tulsa has posted an 8W-2L-2D record vs. the Toros with wins in each of the previous five clashes.
SCOUTING RIO GRANDE VALLEY
Rio Grande Valley FC Toros currently sits in 11th place in the Western Conference and enters Friday night unbeaten in its last seven outings. After 19 matches played in 2023, RGV’s performance has yielded a record of 5W-5L-9D. On the road, the side has maintained a competitive edge, posting a 3W-2L-2D overall record.
Leading the charge on the scoring front, Wilmer Cabrera has netted an impressive six goals on 31 shots while appearing in every match for his club. Additionally, Taylor Davila has contributed significantly with 3 assists in 19 appearances as well.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Although it has been covered extensively, it is still the stat of the match – FC Tulsa is looking to tie a franchise best five match win streak with a victory on Friday night. Its previous all-time best stretch of wins came back in 2021 and consisted of 10 FC Tulsa goals and four concessions. A 2-0 win vs. RGV would mirror its 2021 stretch identically.

In addition, fans can guarantee a shirt by bundling one with an FC Tulsa summer scarf and match ticket that can be done here.
