Match will Air Nationally on ESPN2
TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer League has announced FC Tulsa will be one of two sides featured in its marquee regular season matchup this August. Tulsa’s contest at Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on August 9 has been included in the USL Championship’s 2023 Summer Showcase and will air live on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. CT.
The annual Summer Showcase is an all-encompassing event serving as the location for the league’s mid-year meetings followed by a nationally televised match, this year featuring FC Tulsa and Colorado Springs at Weidner Field.
Two first-year head coaches will take center stage, Blair Gavin for FC Tulsa and Stephen Hogan for Switchbacks FC, when the primetime Wednesday night match kicks off. It will mark the 13th meeting all-time between the two sides dating back to FC Tulsa’s pre-2021 Western Conference tenure.
“We are grateful to the USL and Colorado Springs for the opportunity to participate in this event,” said FC Tulsa president Sam Doerr. “We understand the significance of the Summer Showcase and what it means for this club to play on a national and league-wide stage. We look forward to representing our city and showing off what we are building here at FC Tulsa.”
