Grava Becomes First Coach to Fill the Newly-Added Position
TULSA – In addition to the three new previously-announced coaches joining FC Tulsa’s technical staff in 2023, the club has added Brazilian coach Flávio Grava as its new Director of Sports Performance.
“Flávio will help bring our style of play to life by improving the players physical output on the field,” said FC Tulsa head coach Blair Gavin. “His passion and experience of making athletes better is an incredible advantage we are looking forward to having at this club.”
Grava served as the Director of Sports Science for Memphis 901 FC in 2022 with an extensive background in sports recovery, rehabilitation, and physical conditioning. Before his time with Memphis, Grava spent 12 years on the technical staff of Corinthians Paulista in top-flight Brazil.
With Corinthians, Grava was no stranger to hardware as the club were champions of Brazil on three occasions, won Copa Libertadores in 2012 in addition to the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup title, and topped Recopa Sudamericana in 2013. Grava also served as a coordinator for Corinthians’ academy level squads.
“I am grateful to FC Tulsa for the opportunity to join a franchise that has aspirations to compete at the highest level,” said Grava. “I trust that I can add quality to an already impressive coaching staff. I’m looking forward to achieving team and personal objectives in Tulsa for years to come.”
