Epps Earns First Team of the Week Award Since Moving to Tulsa
TULSA – The final week of the 2022 USL Championship regular season yielded one final FC Tulsa appearance in the Team of the Week. Following his brace last Wednesday vs. Monterey Bay F.C., Marcus Epps has been named to his first Team of the Week since being acquired by FC Tulsa in July.
Epps was sensational as he bagged the first two goals of his Tulsa career in front of the FC Tulsa faithful at ONEOK Field, accounting for the only two goals of the contest. His brace was the first of Epps’ professional career spanning six seasons split between stints in the MLS and the Championship. The two goals marked the 26th and 27th scores of the Mississippi native’s soccer tenure to pair nicely with his 16 assists.
In addition to his two goals, Epps won both of his attempted tackles as well as two of the three aerial duels he initiated. The winger completed 34 of his 45 passes, took four shots, and created two scoring chances for his teammates.
“I’m excited to be named to the Team of the Week,” said Epps. “However, I know I wouldn’t be here without the help of my teammates this final week. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
Epps becomes the 14th and final Tulsa player to receive a Team of the Week honor awarded by the USL Championship this season.
