Both Players Accounted for All Four FC Tulsa Goals on Saturday
TAMPA, Fla. – Not one, but two FC Tulsa men have made the USL Championship Week 30 Team of the Week following the club’s dramatic 4-2 win over Indy Eleven on Saturday. A hat trick in Luca Sowinski’s second professional appearance and both a goal and an assist from Darío Suárez have earned the two attacking threats recognition and acclaim from the league, receiving its prestigious weekly honor.
Sowinksi, the 18-year-old midfielder FC Tulsa signed in July from the Barca Residency Academy, showcased poise, awareness, and the ability to finish with not only his first professional goal, but his first three professional goals in Indianapolis. In total, Sowinski put five of his six attempts on frame, won seven duels, and made six ball recoveries.
His hat trick was the club’s first of the FC Tulsa era and second recorded in franchise history. The first was achieved by current FC Dallas and USMNT forward Jesus Ferreira on September 5, 2018.
It was more of the same for Darío Suárez who scored his ninth goal of the season as well as assisted Sowinski’s third goal to complete the hat trick. The Cuban unleashed three total shots and finished the night with an 86% passing accuracy mark.
Suárez has scored in seven of Tulsa’s last nine matches and is tied for the club lead in both goals and assists. He is now tied with Joaquín Rivas for the second-most goals scored in Tulsa history with 27, trailing Rodrigo da Costa with 33.
The two honors mark the 12th and 13th times that FC Tulsa has appeared on the Team of the Week this season and the first appearance for both Sowinski and Suárez this season. Both players will be back in action at ONEOK Field this Saturday, October 8 as FC Tulsa is hosting Vamos Tulsa Night. Tickets to the match can be purchased here!
