Williams’ Five Goals in April was Tied for the Second-Most in the League
TAMPA, Fla. – On Thursday afternoon, the USL Championship unveiled its five candidates for Player of the Month in April. FC Tulsa’s JJ Williams was named as one of the league’s Finalists after a superb month that saw the striker score four goals in four USL Championship matches – his first goals as a member of the club.
The league’s other finalists were keeper Jordan Farr (San Antonio FC), and forwards Dane Kelly (Pittsburgh Riverhounds FC), Kyle Vassell (San Diego Loyal SC) and Stefano Pinho (Indy Eleven).
Throughout his hot start to the season, Williams has been the focal point of the FC Tulsa attack. In the four April matches, Williams led FC Tulsa in shots (18), shots on target (8) and is the current club leader in goals after scoring his fifth of the campaign on Wednesday night.
While he has been unlucky to not record an assist yet in 2022, Williams did have five key passes in those four April matches. His seven total key passes on the year are the most of any FC Tulsa player without an assist.
Williams will try to keep the scoring up on Saturday night as FC Tulsa hosts Detroit City FC at ONEOK Field. Kickoff is at 7:30, and tickets to the match are still available.
