Eric Bird Named to Team of the Week Bench
TAMPA, Fla. – After stunning Louisville City FC last Wednesday by way of a 2-1 victory in Kentucky, the USL Championship has highlighted the individual performances of Phillip Goodrum and Eric Bird with its weekly accolades. Goodrum was named to the USL-C Week 12 Team of the Week, and Bird was named to the Team of the Week bench.
In his FC Tulsa debut, Goodrum dazzled with a match-winning goal in the 89’ minute to secure all three points for Tulsa. He came inches away from his second in the 47’ minute when his shot from 20 yards out bounced off the crossbar.
In addition to his goalscoring efforts, Goodrum completed 10 of his 16 passes and won 8 of 12 duels.
Bird began the match as a right-back before trickling up the pitch into a midfield role as the match went on. The veteran accounted for the club’s equalizing goal in the 77’ minute, his second score over his last three matches.
Defensively, Bird notched four interceptions, two clearances, and won possession eight times.
Goodrum becomes the fifth FC Tulsa player named to the Team of the Week this year, the first since Eric Bird received the honor in Week 10.
