Ferri Played a Crucial Role for the United States in the 2017 U-17 World Cup
TULSA – As the FIFA World Cup is in full swing, FC Tulsa has added a former United States player with nearly 50 international youth appearances under his belt. 22-year-old Blaine Ferri will join the Tulsa midfield for the 2023 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval.
Ferri, a native Texan, has found success with the United States at the U-15, U-17, and U-19 levels. His international accolades include five appearances in the 2017 U-17 World Cup for the States as well as the runner-up title in the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. Ferri’s name has accompanied others such as Timothy Weah, Sergiño Dest, and Josh Sargent on those U.S. rosters.
“Blaine is a versatile midfielder who has the ability to unlock a match with a final pass,” said FC Tulsa head coach Blair Gavin. “His vision and his ability on the ball will help us generate control and put heavy pressure on our opponents.”
Prior to signing with FC Tulsa, Ferri’s playmaking ability was on full display in two seasons with North Texas SC, the USL League One affiliate of FC Dallas in 2020 before moving to MLS Next Pro in 2021. Ferri appeared 40 times for the club between both seasons, including twice in the Playoffs, with one goal and five assists. The midfielder also competed for fourth-tier German side SpVgg Greuther Fürth II in 2019 and for Inter Miami CF II in 2020.
“I’m extremely excited to join FC Tulsa and start this new chapter of my career,” said Ferri. “I’ve only heard great things about this club so I can’t wait to get started and meet everyone in the organization. My goal is to contribute to the success of the team and help win trophies. Let’s go FC Tulsa!”
