Collin Fernandez was signed to a multi-year deal by FC Tulsa ahead of the 2023 season.
2017
Fernandez was loaned to the Tulsa Roughnecks in 2017 from the Chicago Fire where he had a strong campaign. The midfielder made 23 starts in 28 USL Championship appearances for Tulsa with one assist during the regular season en route to earning the franchise’s first-ever playoff berth. He concluded the season with an impressive 86.6% passing accuracy and commanded the midfield as well as anyone.
In Open Cup play, Fernandez made three more appearances for the Roughnecks and came up with one assist in Tulsa’s win over the OKC Energy U-23 squad.
2022 – SPORTING KANSAS CITY II (MLS NEXT PRO)
In his first season in MLS Next Pro competition, Fernandez appeared 24 times for SKC II, captaining the club 19 times. Offensively, Fernandez scored one goal while logging a single-season career-high four assists. Defensively, the Illinois native won 59% of his defensive duels and averaged 3.67 interceptions per 90 minutes played.
2021 – AUSTIN BOLD FC (USL CHAMPIONSHIP)
In his only season with Austin Bold FC, Fernandez made a career-high 30 appearances and scored a career-best four goals to pair with a couple of assists. Fernandez’s versatility was on full display as he made appearances at defensive mid, left mid, right mid, and right back.
2020 – TACOMA DEFIANCE (USL CHAMPIONSHIP)
Fernandez made eight appearances for Tacoma in the shortened 2020 campaign with four starts.
2018-2019 – PHOENIX RISING FC/SAINT LOUIS FC (USL CHAMPIONSHIP)
Fernandez made the move to Phoenix in 2018 where he would appear for Rising 17 times. The midfielder scored twice for the club and came up with two assists in his inaugural year for the Western Conference champs. During Rising’s playoff run that saw the club ultimately lose 1-0 to Louisville City FC in the Finals, Fernandez started all four of the club’s postseason matches.
He returned to Phoenix the following season to make nine appearances before he was transferred back to Saint Louis FC midseason. With Saint Louis, Fernandez made 11 appearances and notched one assist.
2016 – CHICAGO FIRE/SAINT LOUIS FC (MLS/USL CHAMPIONSHIP)
Fernandez made two substitute MLS appearances for the Fire in 2016 before sustaining an ankle injury that sidelined him for three months. The Fire then loaned Fernandez to Saint Louis FC where he made three appearances.
2015 – CHICAGO FIRE/LOUISVILLE CITY FC (MLS/USL CHAMPIONSHIP)
The homegrown Chicago Fire product made his professional debut against Columbus Crew on September 15. In November of the same year, Fernandez was loaned to Louisville City FC to make three USL Championship appearances.
2014 – CHICAGO FIRE RESERVES (USL PRO)
Collin Fernandez became the fifth homegrown signing in Chicago Fire history and competed for the club’s Reserve squad in the USL Pro league, now the USL Championship. Fernandez made four appearances and scored once.
INTERNATIONAL
Over his career, Fernandez has represented both the United States and Peru at the international level. Fernandez appeared seven times for the U.S. U18 team under Javier Perez and five more times for the U.S. U20 squad under new Hartford Athletic boss Tab Ramos. In 2016, Fernandez elected to represent Peru and would make two appearances for its U20 group.
