Adrián Diz Pe returns to FC Tulsa in 2023 on the multi-year deal he inked prior to the 2022 season.
2022
In the Cuban center-back’s first season with FC Tulsa, he made an immediate impact both on and off the pitch. He led Tulsa in clearances (129), tackles attempted (71), tackles won (46), and interceptions (61). Diz Pe’s 4.6 clearances per 90 minutes proved the ninth-best mark in the USL Championship and his 2.2 interceptions per 90 was the 14th-best in the league. Standing 6’3″, Diz Pe was always a set piece threat and bagged his first Tulsa goal on September 8, an 84′ minute equalizer vs. Louisville City FC.
In addition to his soccer contributions, Diz Pe was ever present in the community all season long. Following the conclusion of the 2022 campaign, Diz Pe was voted the 2022 #ForTulsa Community Man of the Year by his teammates and the FC Tulsa staff for the effort and time he dedicated to becoming involved in the city.
2021 – RIO GRANDE VALLY FC (USL CHAMPIONSHIP)
Diz Pe spent 2021 with RGVFC, tying his 2019 single-season appearance record with 21 appearances for the club. He started 19 matches and scored on September 26 vs Atlanta United 2, the second goal of his USL Championship career. Diz Pe recorded another assist as well which marked four straight seasons in which the center-back was credited with at least one assist.
2020 – COLORADO SPRINGS SWITCHBACKS FC (USL CHAMPIONSHIP)
Diz Pe joined Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC for the shortened 2020 season, appearing in 12 of the club’s 16 matches and starting 11 of them. He came up with another assist as well, the fourth of his career.
2018-2019 – PORTLAND TIMBERS 2 (USL CHAMPIONSHIP)
After some time away from the game, Diz Pe signed with Portland Timbers 2 in the USL Championship in 2018. He started 14 of the 15 matches he appeared in that season, scoring once and registering two assists. Portland finished sixth in the Western Conference and Diz Pe played all 90 minutes in the club’s lone playoff match against Phoenix.
In 2019, the Cuban defender increased his playing time, making 21 appearances and 18 starts. His minute total elevated as well from 1,304 the previous season to 1,560 minutes in 2019 and Diz Pe logged one assist.
2012-2013 – CIUDAD DE LA HABANA (CUBA)
Diz Pe began playing in his Cuban hometown back in 2012 for Ciudad de la Habana along with current FC Tulsa teammate Darío Suárez. Stats from his time at Habana are unavailable.
INTERNATIONAL
Diz Pe rose through the ranks of the Cuban national team through his career before defecting to the United States, initially signing with Cuba’s U-17 team where he made five appearances. He would then make 13 appearances with the Cuban U-20 side and moved on to the U-23 team despite never making an appearance. In 2012, Diz Pe broke through with the senior national team in 2014 World Cup Qualifying in the club’s match against Panama and was a part of the squad that won the Caribbean Cup that season. In total, Diz Pe made 13 caps for Cuba between 2012 and 2015 including appearances in World Cup Qualifications, the 2015 Gold Cup, the 2012 Caribbean Cup, and International Friendlies.
